Green Sustainable Solutions d.o.o. participated in the European Energy Communities Forum 2026, organised by REScoop.eu and held in Jūrmala, Latvia, from 5 to 7 May 2026.
GSS was represented by David Čondić, Junior Project Manager, who took part in three days of workshops, training sessions, knowledge exchange and strategic discussions dedicated to the future of community energy in Europe. The Forum gathered energy community practitioners, cooperatives, municipalities, local leaders, policy actors, project developers and other stakeholders working on citizen-led renewable energy initiatives.
A key part of GSS participation was the presentation of the BiHREC project during the “Fix my EC” session, which focused on Western Balkan lighthouse cases. The session provided an opportunity to share practical experiences, regional challenges and development needs related to energy communities in the Western Balkans with an international audience.
During the Forum, GSS also engaged with representatives of energy communities, municipalities, cooperatives, SMEs and technology providers. Discussions covered relevant topics such as innovative financing models, local governance structures, citizen participation, cooperation with public authorities and the practical implementation of renewable energy projects at local level.
The event also provided valuable insights into upcoming funding opportunities and potential cooperation pathways that can support the further development of GSS activities in energy communities, EU project development and sustainable energy solutions in Croatia and the broader European context.
The European Energy Communities Forum 2026 confirmed the growing importance of energy communities as a practical instrument for accelerating the local energy transition, strengthening citizen participation and supporting more resilient local economies. The knowledge and connections gained in Jūrmala will support GSS in expanding its activities and developing future partnerships across Europe.
