ESG as Capital Strategy: From Compliance to Competitive Advantage at Sarajevo Energy Forum 2026

Green Sustainable Solutions d.o.o. participated at Sarajevo Energy Forum 2026 as a panelist in Panel V: Energy diversification and ESG as a business opportunity – sustainability that delivers profit, contributing to a high-level discussion on how ESG is reshaping investment logic, energy systems and competitive positioning.

The panel emphasized a critical shift: ESG can no longer be treated as a reporting obligation. Companies that approach ESG as capital expenditure logic, infrastructure strategy and value-creation framework will lead the next decade of growth, while those who see it as compliance will inevitably follow.

Key reflections from the panel included:

  • Energy diversification must be designed as bankable infrastructure, not as isolated pilot or demonstration projects.
  • ESG does not create value on paper — value is created only through structured implementation embedded in operations and investment decisions.
  • Inclusion of SMEs in large-scale energy and sustainability projects, while complex, is achievable through blended finance, ESCO models and structured off-take mechanisms.

At Green Sustainable Solutions d.o.o., ESG is not viewed as a trend or a checkbox exercise. It is a delivery framework integrated into investment decisions, operations, procurement and value chains — with the clear objective of generating measurable and scalable business outcomes.

The discussion highlighted a decisive reality: the coming decade will separate companies that treat ESG as compliance from those that treat it as capital allocation and growth logic. The latter will attract capital more efficiently, scale faster and actively shape new energy value chains.

Green Sustainable Solutions extends sincere thanks to the panel moderator Mirela Glavaš and fellow panelists Dr. Nedim Makarević and Mišo Golub for an insightful and forward-looking discussion.
